After a great deal of planning and preparation we launched a new series of weekly lunch clubs in late June. The clubs are designed to give service users the opportunity to learn about nutrition and develop their cooking skills in a safe, social environment at our In-Via supported living service. In addition to cooking, participants are also given the opportunity to contribute to planning and deciding on what dishes will be made in each session.
Each group of four participants will attend twelve weekly sessions with the opportunity for them to then cook a special celebration meal for friends, family and other Cintre service users in the following and final week. This structure means we can give 16 service users the opportunity to benefit from the lunch clubs in the first year that they operate. We have high hopes that successful participants in the club will also get involved with supporting and mentoring future groups.
